Vail Resorts (MTN) DKR Oasis Management filed an initial 13D regarding its stake in the mountain resort operator, shifting to the stance of an activist investor from previous disclosures in a passive 13G. Oasis reported that it purchased 891,059 Vail Resorts shares from Sept. 3 through Sept. 18 at per share prices ranging from $136 to $140.26, after selling 596,765 shares from July 16 through Sept. 4 at $135.08 to $150.21.
On Sept. 10, Oasis notified Vail Resorts of its intent to nominate four director candidates at the 2026 annual meeting, including Robert Chapek and retired Olympic athlete Picabo Street.
Oasis said it believes Vail's portfolio of 42 mountain resorts is not fully reflected in its valuation relative to peers, and that a reconstituted board would sharpen the company's focus on guest experience, pricing strategy, marketing effectiveness, and fuller use of its hospitality assets.
Following the latest activity, Oasis Management owns 2,623,912 Vail Resorts shares, or 7.4% of those outstanding. Shares of Vail Resorts have gained just 4% in value in 2026.
