Valneva, a French vaccine company, said U.K. marketing authorization for its drug Ixchiq was revoked.
The U.K.'s medical and healthcare regulatory agency took away the authorization after a review of previous safety data, Valneva said.
Shares slid 7% to $5.46 in after-hours trading.
The revocation doesn't affect the product licenses for Ixchiq in the European Union, Canada, Brazil or other territories where it is marketed.
Ixchiq, which is a vaccine for the mosquito-borne illness chikungunya, was launched in the U.K. in 2025. However, Valneva wasn't actively distributing it there due to low sales amongst travelers.
Valneva said it doesn't expect any expense related to the recall, and a minimal impact to overall revenue, because no product currently remains on the U.K. market.
Valneva said it disagreed with the decision but won't appeal it, given the immaterial financial impact.
