Data from a recent monthly assessment reveals a significant shift in shipping patterns for liquefied petroleum gas, with a growing number of vessels avoiding the Panama Canal.
According to Vortexa's findings, heightened congestion at the canal and escalating auction fees have prompted nearly half of all very large gas carriers transporting US-origin LPG to Asia to reroute via the Cape of Good Hope since the start of August. This alternative passage around the southern tip of Africa marks a decade-high proportion, as tracked through August 18th.
