On July 9, Direxion Daily Semiconductor Bear 3X ETF (SOXS) fell 13.11% in regular trading, trading at $3.8099/share, with turnover of $569 million. As a 3x inverse semiconductor product, its sharp decline signals a powerful semiconductor sector rally.

Multiple catalysts converged to drive the rebound. Micron Technology formally launched its Hiroshima factory expansion project with total investment of 1.5 trillion yen (approximately $9.3 billion), targeting mass production of HBM and advanced memory products from 2028 to supply AI chip clients including NVIDIA. The Japanese government committed up to 536 billion yen in subsidies to support the build-out. Separately, Bank of America Securities published a semiconductor industry report characterizing the recent sector pullback as a healthy correction rather than a signal of weakening AI demand, reaffirming its Buy rating on Micron. The bank projected global cloud computing and AI infrastructure capital expenditure to approach $1.5 trillion by 2027, representing 40%-50% growth from current levels.

The broader semiconductor complex rallied in tandem, with Marvell Technology up over 4%, ARM and Intel up over 3%, and storage names including Western Digital and Seagate gaining 2%-3%.

This fund invests at least 80% of net assets in financial instruments providing 3X daily inverse exposure to an index tracking the thirty largest U.S. listed semiconductor companies. The fund is non-diversified.
