Lenovo Group officially announced the second-generation Legion Go gaming handheld during the 2025 International Consumer Electronics Show (IFA) in Berlin. The device features a high-performance AMD processor and 144Hz OLED display, delivering powerful performance and flexible multi-mode experiences as it enters the global handheld gaming market.
Previously unveiled as a prototype at the 2025 Consumer Electronics Show (CES), the Legion Go 2 is now officially launching in global markets. This Windows 11-based handheld builds upon the success of the first generation, preserving the original model's DNA while incorporating key improvements based on feedback from Legion fans.
The new Legion Go 2 allows players to further customize their experience, meeting gaming needs across different scenarios - whether at a desk, on the couch, on an airplane, or on stage.
The Legion Go 2 features an 8.8-inch WUXGA PureSight OLED display supporting 144Hz refresh rate and Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) technology, ensuring smooth, tear-free gaming visuals. The display offers 1920×1200 resolution (16:10 aspect ratio) with 500-nit brightness and VESA DisplayHDR True Black 1000 certification, delivering rich, vibrant colors and true deep blacks.
The device is powered by an AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor with an 8-core, 16-thread design, including 3 Zen 5 architecture cores and 5 Zen 5c architecture cores. Graphics processing is handled by the AMD Radeon 890M GPU with 16 graphics cores, providing robust performance for AAA games, indie games, and more.
The Legion Go 2 comes equipped with up to 32GB of 8000MHz memory and up to 2TB PCIe 4.0 SSD storage, significantly enhancing multitasking and storage capabilities. The device also includes a microSD slot supporting an additional 2TB of expansion, allowing players to carry extensive game libraries wherever they go.
Battery capacity has been upgraded from the previous generation's 49.2Wh to 74Wh, representing over 50% improvement. The device uses a split dual-cell design and comes with a standard 65W power adapter, with support for faster charging when connected to higher-wattage chargers.
The detachable Legion TrueStrike controllers have been redesigned with more ergonomic contours, smoother feel, and smarter button layout. The controllers retain FPS mode, transforming the right controller into a vertical mouse for more natural control in FPS games. Hall effect joysticks provide precise, drift-free control. The redesigned controllers maintain compatibility with the original Legion Go, protecting existing users' investments.
The device features USB4 Type-C ports on both top and bottom for versatile connectivity across different scenarios. A fingerprint recognition module integrated into the power button provides faster and more secure login experiences - a feature not present in the previously released first-generation product.
Lenovo will also launch dedicated accessories including a docking station and portable carrying bag. The portable bag uses canvas material with internal padding for protection.
With the Legion Go 2, Lenovo Group further solidifies its position in the gaming handheld market, combining powerful hardware with innovative design to offer players more customization options and flexible gaming experiences. As the product continues to be refined and reaches market, the Legion Go 2 is expected to generate new excitement in the handheld gaming market and deserves attention and anticipation from gaming enthusiasts worldwide.
