据美国网站MacRumors， 苹果 公司的iPhone 18系列手机将使用自研5G晶片，有望结束对 高通 的高度依赖。
苹果在iOS 26.3系统新增“限制精确位置”(Limit Precise Location)功能，减少手机向运营商提供的位置数据，以增加私隐保护。然而，该功能仅适用于搭载苹果自研C1或C1X数据机的设备，如iPhone Air、iPhone 16e、iPhone 17e，以及搭载M5的iPad Pro。搭载高通数据机(modem)的设备，如iPhone 17 Pro系列则不具备“限制精确位置”设定。由于iPhone 18 Pro机型和iPhone Fold预计将采用苹果的数据机技术，这项隐私选项最终或扩展到整个iPhone产品。
不过，新功能亦需营运商作相应支援，目前在仅少数业者添加这项功能，在美国仅Boost Mobile支援限制精确位置功能。
报道还指，苹果正研发C2调制解调器，机能比C1和C1X更大，与高通最新数据机相媲美，预计支援mmWave 5G，而C1和C1X则不具备此功能。
