To ensure the safety of international submarine cable communications during the "Commemoration of the 80th Anniversary of the Victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War," from August 31 to September 3, Qingdao Marine and Fishery Administrative Law Enforcement Squadron, in collaboration with China Unicom Qingdao Branch, conducted specialized maritime cable protection enforcement operations in Qingdao's jurisdictional waters aboard the vessel "China Maritime Surveillance 4073."

Sun Hongyu, captain of "China Maritime Surveillance 4073," stated that in recent years, the state has placed high importance on the protection of international submarine cables, establishing an inter-ministerial joint conference system for submarine cable protection and forming the Shandong Province Submarine Cable Protection Leading Group to strengthen coordinated efforts and create a comprehensive management framework.

During the four-day specialized enforcement operation, authorities patrolled nearly 1,000 nautical miles, expelled over 200 fishing vessels illegally operating within cable protection zones, and distributed more than 1,600 cable protection promotional materials, completing the communication security mission for the commemoration event with high standards and quality.

According to reports, Qingdao is one of China's three major international submarine cable landing points (Qingdao, Shanghai, and Shantou) and serves as the only international submarine cable landing point in northern China and a major international submarine cable communication hub. Currently, three international submarine cables from two systems land in Qingdao: the East Asia Crossing (EAC) submarine optical cable and the Trans-Pacific Express (TPE) direct optical cable, making cable protection of significant importance.
