Sealand Securities Maintains 'Recommended' Rating on Construction Machinery Sector as Export Momentum Stays Robust

A research report released by Sealand Securities Co.,Ltd. highlights that the construction machinery industry continues to enjoy strong export momentum, with August 2026 export figures showing solid growth and prompting the firm to keep its "Recommended" rating on the sector.

According to data from the General Administration of Customs, China's construction machinery exports reached $6.064 billion in August 2026, marking a year-on-year increase of 18.6%. This performance underscores the sector's healthy trajectory. Regionally, exports to Latin America, Africa, and Asia all posted positive growth rates during the month, further reinforcing the optimistic outlook.

Excavators remain the leading complete-machine export product within the construction machinery category. In August 2026, the export value of excavators totaled RMB 7.61 billion, reflecting a robust year-on-year growth rate of 22.2%, according to customs data.

Breaking down the regional growth figures for August 2026, China's export value growth rates were as follows: Latin America surged by 121%, Africa climbed 42%, Asia advanced 6%, Europe declined 9%, North America rose 28.5%, and Oceania expanded 21%.

From a sales volume perspective, key destination countries for excavator exports in August 2026 included: Brazil (Latin America) with 1,081 units shipped; Germany (Europe) receiving 1,771 units; Indonesia (Asia) importing 2,471 units; the United States (North America) taking 11,683 units; Nigeria (Africa) purchasing 420 units; and Australia (Oceania) importing 863 units.
