On May 25, a video surfaced online showing a maggot found in a cake purchased from the Hema Fresh store in Beijing's Shijingshan Bajiao area. The video was reportedly posted by a customer.

According to the report, on the evening of May 17, the customer placed an order through an online platform for a tiramisu cake and other items from the Hema Fresh Bajiao store. The cake's label indicated a production date of May 17 and an expiration date of May 19, confirming it was within the shelf life at the time of purchase. However, upon cutting the cake, the customer discovered a maggot inside.

The customer later contacted the store to report the issue. Hema Fresh reportedly sent staff to retrieve the cake, but the customer refused to hand it over. Subsequently, Hema personnel visited the customer to discuss the matter and offered compensation of 1,000 yuan. The customer stated that their main concern was not compensation but rather Hema's perceived lack of seriousness in addressing the incident.

Currently, the phone number for the involved Hema Fresh store is out of service and appears to be disconnected. Regarding this consumer complaint, Hema's customer service stated that the issue has been escalated to the relevant department for follow-up and resolution, and further updates can be expected through official channels.
