A newly emerging player in the commercial aerospace sector, Si Xiang Technology's System Engineering R&D Center (DEX Lab), has officially commenced operations in Dongjing Town, Songjiang District. From the initial business discussion on June 26 to the official launch, including the specialized fit-out of an aerospace-grade space laboratory, the entire process took a mere 57 days. For Si Xiang Technology, which specializes in spatial information technology, this milestone signifies a pivotal leap from its core expertise in satellite ground-based data processing algorithms to encompassing on-board intelligent algorithm development and satellite engineering technical breakthroughs.

Negotiation, site selection, fit-out, registration, and launch—these five parallel fronts were tightly interwoven within the 57-day window. Li Zi, the Party Secretary of Dongjing Town, emphasized the importance of ensuring that promising projects are "well-received, swiftly implemented, and thrive effectively." The town's investment promotion center worked shoulder-to-shoulder with the Si Xiang Technology team on the project front lines, transforming what typically were sequential steps into a concurrent process, thereby laying a solid hardware foundation for the enterprise's future on-board technological innovation and core technology self-development.

Setting a project implementation timeline

On June 26, the Dongjing Town investment promotion team first met with Si Xiang Technology. The company's requirement was not for ordinary office space, but for a specialized laboratory capable of supporting the full chain of R&D, testing, and validation needs—a demand characterized by high standards, strict requirements, and a tight schedule.

The pace was set from that very first meeting: June 26, initial talks; just five days later, on July 1, the site selection contract for the R&D center was signed. Following this, planning, design, and site renovation were advanced concurrently, with the aerospace-grade laboratory's specialized fit-out completed in only 28 days. On August 18, the company successfully registered, with paperwork and facility renovation proceeding in parallel without delay. Finally, on August 22, the Si Xiang Technology System Engineering R&D Center (DEX Lab) was officially launched.

"Songjiang District and Dongjing Town helped us quickly identify a high-standard, suitable factory space, allowing the project to commence operations and be delivered as early as possible, buying valuable development time for the enterprise," stated Gu Juan, the project's relevant person in charge.

The "speed" behind this achievement is attributed to Dongjing Town's "Four Full" service model: "full-process accompaniment, full-cycle tracking, full-chain precision, and full-aspect support." A representative from Dongjing Town noted that from initial contact to contract signing and laboratory launch, every step had dedicated personnel monitoring, following up, and taking responsibility to the end. Processes were continuously streamlined, minimizing the burden on the enterprise. This efficient, convenient, and transparent business environment allows innovative projects to take root and grow rapidly here.

With Si Xiang Technology's establishment, Songjiang's commercial aerospace industry layout has gained a new component. It is understood that Songjiang hosts a national-level SME characteristic industrial cluster for satellite internet, having gathered over 100 upstream and downstream companies, with a projected 2025 industrial scale of 23 billion yuan for enterprises above designated size. Led by key players like Yuanxin Satellite and Gesai Aerospace, the "Thousand Sails Constellation" is accelerating its network deployment, establishing an infrastructure foundation for space-based computing.

The critical leap from "ground processing" to "space-based computing"

The "acceleration" in implementation serves the deeper purpose of conquering "deep waters" in technological development. For a long time, Si Xiang Technology has focused on space intelligence information applications, building solid expertise in satellite ground data processing, intelligent analysis algorithms, space scenario applications, and overall satellite system demonstration. However, the industry is undergoing profound changes: rapid iteration in commercial aerospace and the growing trend towards satellite intelligence and integration have made the traditional "space-ground separation" model—where data is collected on satellites and processed on the ground—inadequate for high-precision, time-sensitive space applications. This has become a bottleneck the entire industry must overcome.

Gu Juan indicated that, leveraging the new aerospace-grade R&D facility, Si Xiang Technology aims to complete its capabilities across the full chain of technological R&D, system building, and on-orbit validation, with breakthroughs planned along three key directions.

Moving algorithms "onto" satellites. Relying on the System Engineering R&D Center, Si Xiang Technology will conduct system R&D, technical testing, and full-scenario validation to bridge the gap between on-board and ground algorithms. This will transform satellites from mere "data carriers" into platforms capable of autonomous perception and rapid response in orbit, significantly enhancing the service efficiency and responsiveness of remote sensing satellites.

Making satellite development "manualized." Addressing common industry issues such as long R&D cycles, poor reuse of accumulated technical expertise, and difficulty in unifying iteration baselines, Si Xiang Technology is developing a systematic, reusable, and rapidly iterative "type-spectrum" R&D system. This involves distilling complex, customized development logic into clear, executable product specifications, helping satellite users lacking engineering experience to lower the barriers to constellation construction.

Ensuring new technologies pass the "ground test" before the "space test." With its specialized testing environment, the enterprise is establishing a dual-driven validation system combining "ground simulation & verification" and "on-orbit actual measurement." This completes the final link in technology R&D: a new technology undergoes closed-loop verification—from theoretical deduction, ground testing, to on-orbit application—ensuring its practicality and reliability are repeatedly refined before launch, achieving integrated space-ground design, development, and application.

Concurrently, technological achievements will accelerate towards standardization and productization, continuously lowering the barriers to satellite application and providing a more solid foundation for the scaled development of the commercial aerospace industry.
