美联储前理事凯文·沃什近日提出，应当调整美联储提前预告利率决策的惯常做法。他认为，这种被称为"前瞻性指引"的政策工具可能导致决策者在经济形势变化时难以及时调整立场。
"美联储向全球公开宣布其未来预测路径，"沃什在回应南卡罗来纳州共和党参议员蒂姆·斯科特的质询时表示，"但决策者也是凡人，往往会对既定预测保持过久的坚持。"
沃什特别引用2021至2022年的案例加以说明。当时经济正从疫情中复苏，通胀却飙升至四十年高点。然而美联储直到2022年初才启动加息周期，其时最受关注的核心通胀指标已逼近7%高位。
"如果美联储能等到议息会议期间再作出决策，这种渐进式审议机制或可避免错误决策的叠加效应。"沃什强调，"这些改革举措意义重大，若获得任命通过，我期待推动相关变革。"
