Veradermics, Inc. has announced positive topline results from a Phase II clinical trial for its oral drug candidate, VDPHL01, for treating mild-to-moderate female pattern hair loss. This news has driven a significant rise in the company's share price in recent trading, bringing its market capitalization to approximately $4.6 billion and delivering a six-month return of 192%.

Study 207 was an open-label Phase II trial involving 28 adult female participants. They received either a once-daily or twice-daily 4.5mg dose of VDPHL01 for six months. The data showed an average increase of 22.7 non-vellus hairs per square centimeter in the once-daily group and a 23.3-hair increase in the twice-daily group. Approximately 88.9% of participants in the once-daily group and 90% in the twice-daily group reported "improved" or "greatly improved" hair coverage at the six-month mark.

The drug demonstrated a rapid onset of action, with 67.2% of participants assessed by investigators as showing improvement as early as month two, and 63.2% self-reporting improved hair coverage. Regarding safety, VDPHL01 was generally well-tolerated, with no treatment-related serious adverse events reported and no cardiac-related adverse events of special interest observed.

VDPHL01 is a novel oral extended-release formulation of minoxidil. The company is concurrently conducting pivotal registration trials for the treatment of androgenetic alopecia in both men and women. Veradermics, Inc. is advancing a Phase II/III trial, Study 306, specifically for female hair loss, with topline data expected in the first half of 2027. Currently, there are no approved oral prescription treatments for female pattern hair loss in the United States, a condition affecting an estimated 30 million women nationwide. The company held an investor conference call on the morning of July 15th to discuss the detailed results of Study 207.
