On March 27, the 2026 Zhongguancun Forum Annual Meeting—Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao Science and Technology Innovation Forum was successfully held. Jointly organized by the Beijing Municipal Science & Technology Commission, Zhongguancun Science Park Administrative Committee, Hong Kong Trade Development Council, and Macao Economic and Technological Development Bureau, the forum focused on collaborative innovation and industrial cooperation in artificial intelligence among Beijing, Hong Kong, and Macao. Ran Wei, Chairman of Beijing Waterdrop Intelligence Technology Co., Ltd., was invited to attend and delivered a keynote speech titled "Towards AI-Native: Waterdrop AI-Driven Ecosystem Collaboration and Service Efficiency Enhancement," sharing the company's practices and insights in deeply applying large AI models in the insurance and healthcare sectors.

In his opening remarks, Yang Pu, Deputy Director of the Beijing Municipal Science & Technology Commission and Zhongguancun Administrative Committee, proposed initiatives for AI ecosystem collaboration among Beijing, Hong Kong, and Macao, emphasizing the need to deepen cross-border cooperation, foster an open innovation ecosystem, and facilitate the implementation of collaborative outcomes. Zhang Manli, Deputy Director of the Hong Kong Innovation, Technology, and Industry Bureau, stated that Hong Kong will continue to leverage its unique advantage of "backed by the motherland and connected to the world," enhancing efforts in scientific research collaboration and international resource linkages to promote the efficient flow of innovation elements among the three regions. Chen Zurong, Deputy Director of the Macao Economic and Technological Development Bureau, introduced Macao's latest progress in strengthening technological innovation layout and accelerating the construction of science and technology R&D industrial parks, providing robust support for the application of cutting-edge technologies and industrial development.

During his keynote speech, Ran Wei noted that the current wave of technology, marked by "AI agents," is elevating artificial intelligence from a tool to a new economic paradigm. In response to the national call to "build a new form of smart economy," Waterdrop Inc. is firmly advancing its "All in AI" strategy. Through Beijing Waterdrop Intelligence Technology Co., Ltd., established in 2021, the company is concentrating Waterdrop Group's AI talent and resource advantages to drive AI innovation and R&D, empowering scenarios such as insurance technology, healthcare, and general office innovation. The ultimate value of technology lies in its application, and the insurance and healthcare sectors, which Waterdrop Inc. deeply engages in, represent vast scenarios where cutting-edge AI technologies can be translated into inclusive social value.

Deep integration of AI into business operations is driving efficiency across the entire value chain. The year 2026 marks the true advent of the "AI agent" era, necessitating profound digital and intelligent restructuring for future organizations. To this end, Waterdrop Inc. invests nearly 300 million yuan annually in R&D, assembling a top-tier interdisciplinary team. The company has applied for and obtained over 100 AI patents, including 72 related to large models, with 9 overseas patent applications. It has built an independent capability system named "Waterdrop AI," integrating high-precision voice interaction, natural language understanding, and cross-agent collaboration, endowing it with human-like functions of "thinking, listening, speaking, and doing." This system serves as a "central nervous system" widely applied in core scenarios.

In intelligent service scenarios, the AI customer service agent "Baoxiao Hui" achieves "handling through dialogue," with monthly interactions exceeding one million and a voice response time of 1.5 seconds. In intelligent underwriting scenarios, the AI underwriting expert "KEYI" improves the efficiency of complex health insurance underwriting by 260 times, with an accuracy rate of 99.8% and a 260-fold increase in response speed. It also intelligently recommends alternative products to rejected applicants. In product innovation scenarios, AI and big data enable more diverse possibilities for customized insurance products, helping build a more inclusive "universe of insurance products for individuals with pre-existing conditions." In digital recruitment scenarios, the company's self-developed patented "intelligent matching technology for clinical drug trial patients" reduces matching time from days to minutes, increasing overall recruitment efficiency by over 300% with a matching accuracy rate above 92%.

Additionally, in office collaboration scenarios, Waterdrop Inc. recently developed the Waterdrop AI Assistant—ClawSquare. Based on a distributed architecture, it enables autonomous communication and task coordination among AI agents with different functions, supporting 24/7 uninterrupted operation. Currently, this capability is initially empowering internal office collaboration and gradually extending to core business scenarios in insurance and healthcare.

Waterdrop Inc. maintains diverse explorations in internationalization. In Hong Kong, it established a licensed insurance brokerage firm, Waterdrop Finance, providing professional insurance brokerage and wealth planning services to individual and corporate clients. To better support talent development, the company launched a one-stop service platform for living in Hong Kong, Macao, and overseas, "Mainland-Hong Kong-Macao Worry-Free," which has set up five regional service centers in mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macao, serving thousands of middle-class families.

Based on the corporate practices of Waterdrop Intelligence Technology, Ran Wei proposed three reflections for deepening the AI innovation ecosystem among Beijing, Hong Kong, and Macao: First, adhere to scientific research leadership, break down regional barriers, and jointly build innovation platforms. Second, strengthen industry-academia collaboration to cultivate interdisciplinary talent teams in "AI+X." Third, focus on scenario applications, integrate resources from smart city initiatives, public services, and cross-border trade across the three regions, and jointly develop benchmark projects to form a virtuous cycle where "application drives innovation, innovation spurs industry, and industry feeds back into application."

Waterdrop Inc.'s new vision is to become a globally leading, technology-driven financial and healthcare service platform, contributing to better lives. Its business practices in Beijing, Hong Kong, and Macao have shown that the key to collaborative development lies in building deep local capabilities. In the future, Waterdrop Intelligence Technology will continue to deepen technology empowerment, export scientific and technological achievements, and work with industrial partners in Beijing, Hong Kong, and Macao to jointly build a new paradigm for the intelligent economy.
