Two slope collapses struck Fengshan Town, Fengqing County, Lincang City, Yunnan Province, on August 23, leaving four people unaccounted for. In response, the Ministry of Natural Resources activated a Level IV emergency response for geological disaster defense in Yunnan at 2 PM that day and dispatched a working group to the site to guide rescue and relief operations.

The ministry directed the Yunnan Provincial Department of Natural Resources to immediately send an expert task force to the affected area, providing technical support for search efforts and emergency response while assisting local authorities. It also urged comprehensive inspections, monitoring, and early warning systems for similar geological risks to prevent further incidents. Meanwhile, the China Geological Survey and the ministry's Geological Disaster Technical Guidance Center have intensified expert deployment, coordination, and consultation to fully support on-site technical operations.
