Tesla has unveiled the fourth part of its Master Plan: creating products and services that bring artificial intelligence into the real world, achieving unlimited sustainable development, and accelerating the world's transition to sustainable abundance.

Introduction:
Since Tesla's founding, each iteration of our master plan has focused on our North Star: achieving unlimited sustainable development without compromise.
Humans are tool makers. At Tesla, we produce physical products at scale and low cost, with the goal of making everyone's life better.
As artificial intelligence (AI) technology becomes increasingly impactful and influential, the mission proposed in Master Plan Part 4 should come as no surprise.
The next chapter of Tesla's story will help us create a world we are just beginning to imagine, and will achieve this at a scale we have not yet seen. We are building products and services that bring artificial intelligence into the real world.
For nearly two decades, we have been working tirelessly to lay the foundation for this technological renaissance by developing electric vehicles, energy products, and humanoid robots.
Now, we are combining our manufacturing capabilities with our autonomous capabilities to provide new products and services that will accelerate global prosperity and human flourishing, driving shared economic growth for all. We are unifying our hardware and software at scale, and by doing so, we are creating a safer, cleaner, and more enjoyable world.
Guiding Principles
Growth is Unlimited
Growth in one area does not mean decline in another. Resource scarcity can be addressed through improved technology, increased innovation, and new ideas.
The technology that enabled us to power machines sparked the industrial revolution, expanded our economic landscape, and created more opportunities for everyone. Breakthrough inventions like semiconductors and the internet expanded—rather than reduced—social and economic opportunities across all aspects of human experience, from creating more jobs to providing greater access to information to deepening interpersonal relationships.
Our desire to transcend what is considered achievable will drive the growth needed for truly sustainable abundance.
Innovation Eliminates Constraints
For centuries, humanity's primary mode of transportation was the horse. Then, for more than fifty years, fossil fuel-powered internal combustion engine vehicles became the standard and expected mode of transportation. The idea that batteries could be produced at low cost and at sufficient scale to free the transportation industry from fossil fuel dependence seemed futile—until Tesla led the way.
Through continuous innovation, we overcame the technical limitations of battery development and established an industry powered by renewable resources.
Technology Solves Tangible Problems
Products and services that accelerate the move toward sustainable abundance will drive human progress by solving real-world problems. To further accelerate our innovation, every product we manufacture is more efficient and sustainable than the last.
Solar power generation and large-scale battery storage are improving the availability and reliability of clean electricity in our communities—at lower cost and more sustainably.
Autonomous vehicles have the potential to dramatically improve the affordability, availability, and safety of transportation while reducing pollution, especially in our increasingly dense global cities.
Our autonomous humanoid robot Optimus is changing not only the perception of labor itself but also its availability and capabilities. Jobs and tasks that are particularly monotonous or dangerous can now be accomplished through other means. In this way, Optimus's mission is to give people more time to do what they love.
Autonomy Must Benefit All Humanity
The tools we build at Tesla help us manufacture products that promote human prosperity.
How we develop and use autonomy—and the new capabilities it provides us—should be inspired by its ability to improve the human condition. Making everyone's daily life better and safer through our autonomous driving technology has been and will continue to be our focus.

Building a prosperous and unconstrained society requires manufacturing technologically advanced products that are affordable and accessible at scale. This helps further democratize society while improving everyone's quality of life in the process. The hallmark of meritocracy is creating opportunities that enable everyone to use their skills to accomplish whatever they imagine.
Everyone should have access to these opportunities, and technological development can help ensure that each of us can maximize our most limited resource: time.
We are Accelerating the World's Transition to Sustainable Abundance
We must be clear: this challenge will be extremely difficult to overcome. Eliminating scarcity requires tireless and meticulous execution. Some will consider this impossible. Many others will celebrate every obstacle and setback we inevitably encounter on our journey. But once we overcome this challenge, our critics will see that what they once thought impossible is actually possible. This is fine with us, because most importantly, we must work together to create a sustainable, truly abundant future for future generations.
All worthwhile journeys are long. They all start with the first step.
Our first step was to build an exciting sports car. Then, we used those profits to fund the development and production of more affordable, but still exciting products—the Model S and Model X. Then, we repeated this process, launching the Model 3 and Model Y, along with other products.
This process required us to take many steps, some small, some large. But ultimately, each victory led to another victory, and even when we failed, we maintained momentum. Our momentum has enabled us to build a fully integrated sustainable product ecosystem, from transportation to energy production, battery storage, and robotics.
Today, we stand on the brink of a revolutionary period, prepared for unprecedented growth. This time, for Tesla and all humanity, this will not be a small step, but a giant leap. The tools we are about to develop will help us build the world we have always dreamed of—a world of sustainable abundance—by redefining the fundamental components of labor, mobility, and energy to serve everyone at scale.
