The Roundhill Memory ETF (DRAM) tumbled 5.01% in intraday trading on Monday, reversing earlier gains as the historic debut of Chinese memory chipmaker ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT) drove a dramatic capital rotation out of global memory names.

CXMT’s shares skyrocketed over 465% on the Shanghai Stock Exchange's STAR Market, making it the most valuable company on the A-share market with a market capitalization exceeding $3.2 trillion yuan. The blockbuster IPO, which drew massive retail and institutional participation, exerted a significant capital-siphoning effect on the broader memory sector. The overwhelming demand for CXMT shares pulled liquidity away from existing memory chip stocks and ETFs, including the Roundhill Memory ETF, which holds key global players like Micron Technology, Samsung Electronics, and SK Hynix.

While the ETF initially rose in pre-market trading on news of major chip supply deals, the sentiment quickly soured as trading volume in CXMT shattered records, surpassing 140 billion yuan shortly after the open. Analysts noted that the concentration of capital into the new Chinese champion pressured the valuations of established industry leaders, underscoring the market's shifting focus toward domestic semiconductor self-sufficiency.
