To seize the prime period for graduate recruitment, several universities in Shanghai, including Shanghai Polytechnic University and Shanghai Maritime University, have organized specialized spring job fairs for the class of 2026. These events are tailored to align with each institution’s academic strengths, integrating job resources and optimizing services to create a precise platform for matching graduates with employers, thereby supporting high-quality and full employment.

On March 27, Shanghai Polytechnic University held its spring job fair for the class of 2026, inviting over 350 high-quality employers. Participants included central state-owned enterprises, state-owned enterprises, high-tech firms, and specialized "little giant" enterprises, spanning more than 20 industries such as integrated circuits, biopharmaceuticals, artificial intelligence, electronic information, advanced materials, and green technologies. Group recruitment was also organized by entities including the Youth League committees of Baoshan and Chongming Districts, Cheng Tou Group, and North Science and Technology Innovation Group, offering over 10,000 high-quality positions.

Many companies noted that Shanghai Polytechnic University’s practice-oriented talent development system closely matches Shanghai’s industrial needs, with graduates demonstrating strong practical skills and high industry adaptability—making them ideal candidates for business growth. The fair featured digital tools such as resume kiosks and interview screens, along with services like resume polishing and mock interviews to enhance graduates’ competitiveness. Additional support included anti-fraud guidance, policy consultation, career advising, resume assistance, and an alumni enterprise zone, with multiple functional departments providing on-site services to ensure comprehensive support for job seekers.

Shanghai Polytechnic University emphasized that the job fair reflects its commitment to applied education and deepening industry-academia integration, helping to synchronize talent development with regional economic growth. Moving forward, the university will continue to enhance its talent training system and upgrade employment services to supply more high-quality, practice-ready professionals for Shanghai’s key industries.

On March 25, Shanghai Maritime University hosted its spring recruitment fair for the class of 2026, attracting 419 well-known industry employers such as COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry. The event covered sectors including shipping, logistics, and artificial intelligence, offering 1,500 positions with total demand reaching 12,000, and connected nearly 7,000 graduates.

The fair highlighted the maritime industry, with nearly 50% of participating employers in port, shipping, and logistics, and about 16% from the Lingang area, aligning closely with the university’s specialized programs. Lingang’s industrial advantages and talent policies have drawn many graduates to settle there, with companies expressing strong recognition of the students’ overall quality—creating a synergistic, mutually beneficial dynamic between the university and the region.

Graduates choosing to work in Lingang pointed to the area’s role as a core hub for Shanghai’s international shipping center, with significant advantages in clusters such as shipping, logistics, advanced manufacturing, and finance, alongside promising development prospects. Attractive local subsidies and policies, combined with familiarity from their student years, enabled smooth transitions into workplace environments, allowing them to pursue career growth while contributing to Lingang’s development.

A notable feature was the participation of 11 alumni enterprises organized by the Guangxi Alumni Association, offering one-on-one guidance and job referrals for Guangxi-native graduates. The university also provided a suite of employment services, including resume clinics, residency policy consultations, and AI-powered resume optimization. Even underclassmen attended to better understand industry demands and plan their career paths early.

Shanghai Maritime University observed that its graduates are pragmatic and rational in job hunting, focusing on precise role alignment with their majors. Some students are looking beyond salary considerations to prioritize career growth opportunities, reflecting a mature outlook among the new generation.

It is reported that Shanghai universities will continue to leverage the spring recruitment season, deepen university-enterprise and university-local cooperation, broaden employment channels, and refine services to fully support the class of 2026 in achieving high-quality employment, supplying outstanding talent for Shanghai’s industrial advancement.
