Agricultural officials and industry representatives from across the region gathered in Bayannur on September 4th for the 2026 Autonomous Region-level "Field Selection of Superior Seeds" comprehensive platform on-site observation and training session. The event focused on showcasing superior seed varieties, demonstrating agricultural techniques, and facilitating experience exchange to advance the effectiveness of the seed industry revitalization initiative. Participants included department heads from the agricultural and animal husbandry bureaus of various leagues and cities, seed supply companies, distributors, cooperative representatives, and large-scale growers.

During the event, attendees visited the Autonomous Region-level "Field Selection of Superior Seeds" comprehensive platform at the Bayannur National Agricultural High-Tech Zone, the maize dense planting "Field Selection of Superior Seeds" platform, the maize multi-point demonstration area, Inner Mongolia Ximeng Seed Industry Co., Ltd., and the integrated demonstration zone for maize dense planting with precise water and fertilizer regulation and optimized full-application technology in Lianfeng Village, Toudaoqiao Town, Hanggin Rear Banner. The visits provided a firsthand look at the platform's construction and operation, seed variety screening trials, and the progress of variety demonstration and promotion efforts.

Wang Bichun, a senior agronomist from the Ulanqab Seed Industry Workstation, expressed his impressions: "Visiting the 'Field Selection of Superior Seeds' platform here in Bayannur, I can see the significant effort invested in seed research locally. We've seen more sunflower and chili pepper varieties, especially sunflowers with large heads and plump, high-yield seeds. Our goal here is to learn from the platform's construction experience and bring superior varieties back to Ulanqab."

Supported by the Autonomous Region Department of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry's seed industry revitalization fund, the Bayannur Autonomous Region-level "Field Selection of Superior Seeds" comprehensive platform is the region's largest and most standardized field variety comparison demonstration base. It also serves as a professional seed industry service hub in the Hetao Irrigation District, integrating variety display, comparative trials, agricultural technology demonstration, superior seed promotion, and digital farmer services. The platform spans 318 mu and currently displays 102 varieties of three major crop categories: maize, sunflower, and chili pepper, with each variety allocated a display area of approximately 2 mu.

The platform implements a model pairing superior seeds with superior cultivation methods, utilizing integrated water-fertilizer drip irrigation across the entire site. It also incorporates supporting technologies such as Beidou navigation-assisted driving for mulching, high-yield maize dense planting, sunflower row expansion with reduced density, and high-quality, efficient water-fertilizer integration for chili pepper cultivation, all aimed at fully realizing the yield potential of the varieties. Smart monitoring equipment for soil negative pressure, soil temperature and humidity, and groundwater levels has been installed in the fields for real-time monitoring of crop growth environments. Additionally, a "Field Selection of Superior Seeds" mini-program has been launched to allow farmers to easily access performance data for various varieties at any time.

"We are committed to building and utilizing the 'Field Selection of Superior Seeds' platform effectively, strengthening variety evaluation and technology integration, and guiding farmers toward scientific seed selection," stated Zhang Xiaohong, Deputy Director of the Bayannur Modern Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Development Center. "This work continuously reinforces the foundation of the seed industry, unlocks the potential for increased grain production, secures the bottom line of food security, and contributes to the enhanced quality and efficiency of modern agriculture in the Hetao region."
