Concurrently, the initiative will advance the development of distinctive industries, promote green shipping practices, foster coordinated growth across the river's main and tributary streams, drive data integration and innovation, and build a high-standard service hub for maritime crew members, all with the goal of ensuring robust safety supports high-quality development.

Situated at the most downstream point of the Yangtze River's main line, Taicang serves as the first port of call for seagoing vessels entering the river, handling an average of nearly 50,000 such transits annually. This strategic position has earned it the reputation as the gateway for shipping along the eastern Yangtze.
