Beijing's Pinggu District Strengthens Safety Checks on Gas Appliances

Market regulators in Mafang Town, Pinggu District, Beijing, have launched a targeted inspection of gas appliances sold at kitchenware and hardware stores. The initiative focuses on ensuring product compliance by verifying mandatory CCC (China Compulsory Certification) status. Inspectors are carefully checking whether the models and specifications of gas appliances on sale match the certification documents and confirming that the certificates remain valid. Additional checks include confirming the presence of flame failure protection devices, proper labeling, and complete factory quality certificates to prevent uncertified, expired, or counterfeit products from entering the market.

Authorities are also reinforcing merchant accountability by urging sellers to implement strict purchase verification and documentation procedures. Retailers are being instructed to accurately record product sources, verify supplier qualifications and CCC certification details, and maintain standardized sales ledgers to ensure traceability and compliance.

During inspections, officials are providing guidance on relevant laws and regulations, such as the Product Quality Law and certification rules, and educating merchants on how to identify substandard gas appliances and understand their potential hazards. The goal is to enhance safety awareness and discourage the sale of unverified products.

Moving forward, the Mafang Town market supervision office plans to increase the frequency of inspections and strengthen enforcement to further hold sellers accountable. Integrating legal education into daily oversight will also help raise public safety awareness and promote compliance among businesses, safeguarding household cooking safety.
