Shenzhen Adds 11 New Licensed Financial Institutions at Branch Level or Above This Year

On December 5, at the Shenzhen Global Investment Promotion Conference, officials from the Shenzhen Municipal Financial Office announced that the city has added 11 new licensed financial institutions at the branch level or above in 2025, bringing the total to 755, up from 744 at the end of 2024. Additionally, the number of fintech subsidiaries established by licensed financial institutions increased by three, reaching 16 compared to 13 at the end of 2024.

The Shenzhen Municipal Government has outlined new development goals for the financial sector, including positioning the city as one of the nation's most critical strategic hubs for financial services. Other objectives include fostering innovation in industrial finance, establishing a global center for venture capital and fintech, reinforcing finance as a key pillar of high-quality economic growth, and becoming a major player in global capital markets.
