Sembcorp Industries Ltd (U96) said on Mar, 27 2026 that it has named Andreas Sohmen-Pao a non-executive and independent director and Chairman-designate, ahead of his planned elevation to non-executive and independent Chairman on Jun, 01 2026. He will succeed Tow Heng Tan, who will retire on that date after three years as Chairman and five years on the board.

Tow joined the board on Jun, 01 2021 and was appointed Chairman on Apr, 20 2023. The company credited him with guiding Sembcorp’s strategy, including its pivot toward energy transition while maintaining a focus on gas for energy security.

Sohmen-Pao has been chairman of BW Group since 2014 and also chairs the Global Centre for Maritime Decarbonisation. He is a trustee of the Lloyd’s Register Foundation.

Separately, Sembcorp appointed Steven Phan Swee Kim as a non-executive and independent director and Audit Committee (AC) chairman-designate. Phan will take over as AC chair at the close of the annual general meeting on Apr, 29 2026, succeeding Yap Chee Keong, who will retire after more than nine years on the board.

Phan previously spent over 35 years in audit and advisory, including serving as Ernst & Young’s Asia Pacific area managing partner and member of its Global Executive Board until 2018. He is a fellow of the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants.

After the retirements of Yap and Tow, Sembcorp’s board will comprise 10 directors, of whom eight are independent.
