Simcere Pharma (02096) has officially announced the signing of an exclusive licensing agreement with F. Hoffmann-La Roche Ltd (Roche) on September 1, 2026. Under the terms of this agreement, Roche will secure exclusive worldwide rights to develop, manufacture, and commercialize SIM0660, a CD79a/CD19/CD3 trispecific antibody. This milestone marks the second asset to be out-licensed from Simcere's tumor T-cell engager (TCE) technology platform, further solidifying the platform's innovative strength and global competitive edge.
Per the contractual terms, Simcere Pharma is entitled to an upfront payment of $75 million, alongside milestone payments that could reach up to $1.455 billion. Additionally, the company is eligible to receive tiered royalties capped at double-digit percentages, calculated on future net sales of the product. This financial structure underscores the high perceived value of the asset in the global oncology pipeline.
Sourced from Simcere's proprietary TCE multispecific antibody platform, SIM0660 merges a CD3-binding T-cell engagement arm with dual binding domains directed at two B-cell antigens, CD79a and CD19. The design aims to trigger potent T-cell-mediated cytotoxic effects while effectively mitigating cytokine release. This dual-targeted mechanism holds potential first-in-class significance for treating B-cell lymphoma, with promise across both newly diagnosed and relapsed or refractory cases. Notably, it offers a differentiated therapeutic alternative for patients who have previously undergone CD20 or CD19-directed treatments, addressing a critical unmet medical need.
Beyond oncology, SIM0660 also demonstrates therapeutic potential in B-cell-mediated autoimmune diseases. By selectively eliminating pathogenic B cells, the therapy could deliver meaningful clinical benefits to patients, potentially broadening its application across multiple disease areas and reinforcing the strategic value of this licensing partnership for both parties.
