2025 Q1 Recap|Energy Leads S&P 500 Sector Advances; IT And Consumer Discretionary Are Worst-Performing

Wall Street has weathered a volatile first quarter of 2025, as benchmark averages remain in the red amidst rising concerns over tariffs, inflation, economic growth, employment data, corporate earnings, and geopolitical tensions.

Despite the overall market's struggles, seven of the 11 S&P sectors have managed to stay in positive territory on the year, with Energy and Healthcare leading the winners. Meanwhile, Consumer Discretionary has faced the steepest losses, closely followed by Technology.
