As August 2025 draws to a close, marking nearly the 27th year of searching for her son, Tang Weihua feels increasingly urgent about receiving news of her son Wang Lei. On August 26, 1999, 4-year-old Wang Lei was abducted by Lu Moudong, an employee at the family's electronics store. Over the past 26 years, Tang Weihua has endured countless cycles of desperate searching followed by crushing disappointment.

In recent years, her husband Wang Jie has battled cancer and suffered multiple strokes. This prompted Tang Weihua to make a dramatic decision: she would offer her son's grandfather's apartment as a reward to anyone who helps her find Wang Lei. The ground-floor property with a small courtyard is located near Jinjiang Paradise in Shanghai's Minhang District, with a market value reaching several million yuan. Wang Lei lived in this house before his abduction.

"I just want to get news about Leилei quickly," she said, worried that if her son doesn't return home soon, she and her husband won't have enough time to accompany and compensate him.

The substantial reward offer brought Tang Weihua back into the spotlight, generating over 30 leads about Wang Lei within just a few days. Seven men suspected to be Wang Lei have entered the DNA comparison and verification process.

After her husband fell ill, Tang Weihua shouldered the entire responsibility of searching for their son. Understanding that missing children cases need "exposure," the 50-something Tang Weihua started learning from scratch. She transformed from someone too shy to record videos into a "reunion volunteer" with nearly 1.2 million followers, providing thousands of leads to the Ministry of Public Security's anti-trafficking office and helping 59 families reunite.

"I hope Leилei will be the 60th," she said.
