Sunny Optical Technology (Group) Company Limited reported first-half 2026 revenue of RMB 21.91 billion, an 11.5% year-on-year increase, driven chiefly by vehicle, XR, and Pan-IoT lines. Net profit grew 13.1% to RMB 1.95 billion, while profit attributable to shareholders advanced 9.9% to RMB 1.81 billion. Basic earnings per share rose 10.9% to RMB 1.68.

Gross profit improved 9.6% to RMB 4.27 billion; group gross margin eased slightly to 19.5% from 19.8%. Segment performance diverged: handset revenue slipped 0.8% to RMB 13.15 billion; vehicle products added 10.6% to RMB 3.76 billion; XR products gained 11.0% to RMB 0.96 billion; and other products—mainly Pan-IoT solutions—jumped 88.5% to RMB 4.04 billion.

Operating cash inflow reached RMB 3.43 billion (1H25: RMB 2.36 billion). Capital expenditure totaled RMB 1.64 billion, focused on manufacturing expansion. Cash and equivalents stood at RMB 3.50 billion, down from RMB 7.48 billion at year-end 2025, partly reflecting a HKD 1.02 billion share repurchase of 15.84 million shares in January, now held in treasury. Net gearing remained low at 11.0%.

The board paid a 2025 final dividend of HKD 120.60 cents per share in June but proposed no interim dividend for 1H26.

Strategically, Sunny Optical is progressing with the planned Hong Kong spin-off of its vehicle-products subsidiary Ningbo Sunny Smart Autotech; A-1 listing applications were filed in January and August. Post-period, the company completed a RMB 2.70 billion five-year, 2.15% unsecured bond issue in July. The firm also noted the resignation of Vice President and Joint Company Secretary Mr. Ma Jianfeng effective 1 July 2026.

Management highlighted AI-driven demand in imaging and sensing as a core growth catalyst, with continued investment in high-end handset optics, automotive cameras, XR modules, robotics vision, and optical instruments. Research and development spend was stable at RMB 1.65 billion, underlining its commitment to technology leadership.
