US Durable Goods Orders Rose 0.3% in June, Below 1.8% Estimate

A panel of 43 economists had forecasted a range of -0.7% to 5.7% for the indicator.

Data released by the US Census Bureau showed that orders declined by 4% in May.

New orders excluding transportation increased by 0.6% in June, following a 1.8% rise in May.

New orders excluding defense climbed 0.3% in June, compared to a 4.3% drop in the prior month.

Core capital goods orders (excluding aircraft and defense) rose 0.9% in June, after a 1.9% gain in May.

Shipments of core capital goods (excluding aircraft and defense) advanced 1.9% in June, accelerating from a 0.2% increase in May.
