In accordance with municipal party committee arrangements, Yan Weida, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Chairman of the Municipal People's Political Consultative Conference, visited Yancheng Port's Dafeng Terminal on April 16 for a research project focusing on expanding high-level opening-up, strengthening connections with international circulation, and broadening global market access. Dai Hongguang, Party Leadership Group Member and Secretary-General of the Municipal People's Political Consultative Conference, participated in the visit.
Yan Weida first inspected the grain terminal at Yancheng Port's Dafeng Terminal, observing berth operations, cargo throughput, storage, and transfer activities. He assessed the current handling capacity for bulk commodities such as grain and examined existing shipping route layouts. He then visited the Yancheng Port Bonded Logistics Center, where he gained detailed insights into its functional positioning, operational model, current development status, future plans, as well as measures and outcomes related to improving customs clearance efficiency and reducing logistics costs.
During the research visit, Yan Weida chaired a symposium to hear reports from Yancheng Port Holding Group on recent progress in port infrastructure development, enhancement of port logistics networks, and upgrades to port capacity. He engaged in discussions and solicited opinions from representatives of municipal transportation, commerce, customs authorities, and Dafeng District officials regarding how to better leverage the port's role as a critical gateway for opening-up and a logistics hub.
Yan Weida emphasized that Yancheng Port holds a pivotal position and function in the city's efforts to expand high-level opening-up and implement its maritime development strategy. He urged the municipal research team to carefully incorporate feedback received, transform practical suggestions into actionable ideas and methods, and focus on studying new situations and solving emerging challenges. Key priorities include further enhancing Yancheng Port's capacity and support capabilities, improving the port's collection and distribution system, and optimizing the business environment within the port area. Deeper investigations, open dialogue, consensus-building, and gathering sound recommendations are essential. The team should thoroughly understand conditions, accurately identify issues, and propose concrete, feasible, and implementable countermeasures to produce high-quality research outcomes that can serve as decision-making references for the municipal party committee and government.
