China Shenhua Energy Company Limited released its unaudited operational figures for March 2026, highlighting solid growth in transportation and power segments despite softer coal output. All year-on-year (YoY) comparisons refer to the same period in 2025.
Coal • Commercial coal production slipped 4.80% to 28.00 million tonnes, while coal sales rose 6.40% to 36.80 million tonnes. • For the first three months, production eased 2.40% to 80.50 million tonnes, but sales climbed 3.90% to 103.20 million tonnes.
Transportation • Self-owned railway turnover expanded 16.20% to 27.20 billion tonne-kilometres in March and 8.00% to 78.30 billion tonne-kilometres year-to-date (YTD). • Loading volume at Huanghua Port edged up 1.00% to 19.50 million tonnes for the month and 10.30% YTD to 54.80 million tonnes. • Tianjin Coal Dock handled 4.00 million tonnes, up 33.30%; cumulative volume rose 13.30% to 11.10 million tonnes. • Shipping volume increased 6.00% to 8.80 million tonnes, with YTD growth of 1.80% to 22.20 million tonnes. • Shipment turnover improved 12.80% to 9.70 billion tonne-nautical-miles, though the YTD figure dipped 3.40% to 23.00 billion tonne-nautical-miles.
Power • Gross power generation grew 15.80% to 20.07 billion kWh, bringing the YTD total to 55.94 billion kWh, up 10.90%. • Total power output dispatch mirrored this trend, advancing 15.90% to 18.91 billion kWh in March and 11.00% to 52.69 billion kWh YTD. Management attributed the gains to new generator units.
Coal Chemicals • Polyethylene sales climbed 10.30% to 33.30 thousand tonnes in March and edged up 0.30% to 92.30 thousand tonnes YTD, reflecting flexible product-mix adjustments. • Polypropylene sales dipped 3.50% to 27.90 thousand tonnes for the month but increased 1.02% YTD to 84.00 thousand tonnes.
Management noted that monthly data can fluctuate due to weather, maintenance schedules and seasonal factors, and may differ from figures in forthcoming periodic reports.
