Douyin Life Services Establishes Guidelines for AI-Generated Content Creation

Douyin Life Services has released the "Douyin Life Services AIGC Creation Guidelines" (hereinafter referred to as the "Guidelines").

The Guidelines explicitly require creators to protect consumers' right to know. When publishing AI-generated synthetic content, creators must proactively disclose that the content includes AI-generated elements.

Creators must respect others' personal rights and intellectual property. Without lawful, clear, and traceable authorization, they are prohibited from using others' portraits, voices, or works for AIGC creations such as face-swapping, voice imitation, or adaptations. It is also forbidden to use unauthorized materials or plagiarized scripts for training or generating content.

Creators are required to ensure the authenticity of product and service information and must not produce false or misleading content. Promoted products must be consistent with the details on the product page and the actual offline fulfillment. Fabricating core marketing information such as products, stores, or services through AIGC is strictly prohibited, as is exaggerating quantities, specifications, processes, effects, or making promises of undeliverable services.

Creators must ensure content has positive value and should not use AIGC technology to create bizarre, sensational, vulgar, or false trending content unrelated to the product or service in an attempt to gain traffic dishonestly.

The Guidelines clearly state that the platform will continue to regulate the use of AIGC technology for publishing non-compliant marketing content. Disciplinary actions include, but are not limited to, warnings, traffic restrictions, hiding business components, hiding content, deducting credit points, restricting product promotions, and limiting content publishing.

In the first quarter of this year, Douyin Life Services took action against over 800,000 instances of non-compliant AIGC content used for product promotion and 184 cases of AI-related infringement. These violations involved portrait infringement, false advertising, content plagiarism, vulgar gimmicks and sensational marketing, and publishing irrelevant content to artificially boost traffic and grow accounts.
