Tencent Surges Over 2.5% at Market Open, Continues to Hit 4.5-Year High

October 2nd - Tencent Holdings gained over 2.5% at the opening bell, reaching a peak of HK$680 per share and continuing to set new highs not seen in four and a half years. As of press time, Tencent Holdings was up 1.58% at HK$673.5 per share, with trading volume exceeding HK$5.5 billion.
On the news front, Tencent Holdings (00700.HK) disclosed that on September 30th, it repurchased 832,000 shares on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange at prices ranging from HK$657 to HK$666.5 per share, involving approximately HK$550 million. Since the ordinary resolution was passed on May 14th, 2025, Tencent has cumulatively repurchased 65.813 million shares, representing 0.71621% of its share capital.
