This morning, our city started with conditions ranging from cloudy to overcast. By 3 PM, the average temperature was around 11.8°C, offering a relatively comfortable feel. However, following this warm spell, a slight cooldown is on the way. Tomorrow marks the traditional Beginning of Spring solar term. According to Chengdu Meteorological forecasts, temperatures are expected to rise further over the next three days, with daytime highs potentially reaching 17°C on the 5th. Will the weather continue this warm trend? Don't be too hasty! A cold air mass is approaching shortly thereafter. A new wave of cold air is set to arrive, coinciding with widespread precipitation expected in southern regions during the Spring Festival travel period. Over the next two days (February 3rd to 4th), most parts of the country will experience sunny or mostly cloudy conditions, which is generally favorable for Spring Festival travel. Concurrently, temperatures across most regions will continue to climb, with some areas along the Yangtze River basin feeling unseasonable warmth reminiscent of the Spring Equinox during the Beginning of Spring period. Starting the day after tomorrow, a new cold air mass will move in, leading to significant temperature drops across most areas and bringing rain or snow to many southern localities. During the next two days, the warming trend will persist over most of the country, with temperatures successively reaching recent highs. Today, the 0°C isotherm is forecast to retreat northward to northern Jilin and southeastern Heilongjiang. By tomorrow, the 15°C line could reach northern Henan, while maximum temperatures in many parts of the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River may approach around 20°C. Areas along the Yangtze River will experience notably warmer-than-average conditions, with temperatures in many places expected to be about 10°C higher than the typical seasonal average maximum. Beginning on the 5th, influenced by the new cold air mass, central and eastern regions will see a temperature drop from north to south. The cumulative decrease in maximum temperatures from Northeast China to the Jiangnan area could exceed 10°C, with some parts of the Northeast potentially seeing drops of around 20°C. Around the 7th, temperatures across most of central and eastern China are expected to fall back to levels close to or even below the seasonal average. The public is advised to adjust their clothing promptly according to the changing temperatures. For the next two days, the weather pattern dominated by sunny or mostly cloudy skies will continue, remaining generally conducive to travel. However, snowfall is expected in Xinjiang, Tibet, Qinghai, Inner Mongolia, Heilongjiang, and Jilin, while rainfall will increase in Guizhou, Guangxi, and other southern regions. Starting on the 5th, due to the influence of the new cold air mass, a round of rain and snow is forecast for southern regions. Many areas will experience significant rainfall, and Jiangsu and Anhui might even see a transition from rain to snow. The public should stay updated with weather warnings and forecasts and plan their travels accordingly.
