The soybean planting base in Daofu Village, Baishui Town, Qiyang City, has entered its harvest season. This year, local authorities promoted a strip intercropping model for soybeans and corn, achieving dual yields from a single plot of land.

Amid the thousand-mu soybean fields, the roar of machinery fills the air as farmers seize the sunny weather to harvest. The plump, golden soybeans bring tangible hope for increased income.

At the Tianzilong soybean planting base in Daofu Village, harvesters are operating at full capacity, swiftly gathering the beans across the golden fields. This year, the base planted a total of 1,000 mu of soybeans, with 700 mu under the intercropping system. After deducting costs, each mu generates over 500 yuan in profit.

A farmer from Daofu Village noted that this year's soybean crop has performed exceptionally well, with dense pods and plump beans. He added that working at the base allows villagers to earn money close to home, which is far more advantageous than seeking work elsewhere.

At the drying yard, farmers are busy airing the freshly harvested soybeans, with golden beans blanketing the ground and gleaming brightly under the sun. The strip intercropping model ensures that corn yields remain unaffected while soybeans deliver a stable output of around 300 jin per mu.

The person in charge of the soybean planting base explained that when the city first promoted soybean-corn intercropping a few years ago, he decided to try it on approximately 400 to 500 mu, and the results exceeded expectations. This year, the intercropping area has expanded to over 1,000 mu. The seeds are provided free of charge by the Municipal Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, along with policy subsidies. He expects the net income from soybean-corn intercropping this year to reach around 500,000 to 600,000 yuan.
