According to preliminary data, during this year's National Day holiday, Shanghai's two major airports, Pudong and Hongqiao, collectively handled 17,000 flight takeoffs and landings, a year-on-year increase of 2.6%, with Pudong Airport accounting for 12,000 and Hongqiao Airport 5,000. They served 2.94 million arriving and departing passengers, averaging 420,000 per day, up 3.3% year-on-year, with Pudong Airport handling 1.91 million and Hongqiao Airport 1.03 million.

Facing the holiday travel peak, Shanghai Airport Authority worked to refine flight operations and deepen the integration of culture, commerce, tourism, sports, and exhibitions, simultaneously enhancing the festive atmosphere, passenger experience, and consumer vitality. This year, the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday fell close together, boosting people's willingness to travel. The two airports incorporated natural science education and cultural performances into the entire passenger arrival and departure process, transforming waiting time into a tangible cultural experience where "traveling means visiting an exhibition and waiting means enjoying a show."

On October 1, Pudong Airport partnered with the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum to create Asia's largest fin whale skeleton specimen exhibition in the domestic mixed-flow area of Terminal 2. The specimen, approximately 24 meters long and weighing about 3 tons, is assembled from over 200 bones and took the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum four years to produce, representing a collection of "treasure of the museum" caliber. The site also built an immersive science education scene around themes of marine ecological protection and whale culture, attracting domestic and international travelers to stop and take photos.

From October 4 to 5, Hongqiao Airport joined forces with the Shanghai Zoo to hold a "Fly to Shanghai, Explore Nature" butterfly-themed exhibition in the arrival area of Terminal 2, displaying various rare butterfly specimens accompanied by entertaining science explanations, allowing travelers to encounter the beauty of nature. During the holiday period, Pudong Airport held "Moon Rises from the Sea, Wind Comes from the East" themed performances at multiple locations across both terminals, along with interactive passenger activities such as National Day face painting and traveling with the national flag, adding to the festive cheer.

During the National Day holiday, Shanghai Airport Authority partnered with China Duty Free Group to launch an autumn promotional series. The recently opened Apple duty-free store in Pudong Airport Terminal 2 held a global simultaneous premiere of hot new products, with ample stock and more cost-effective duty-free exclusive prices attracting Apple fans and travelers alike. On October 23, the highly anticipated new product iPhone Duo will also be released globally simultaneously. In partnership with Duflot, a duty-free Asian beauty and premium fragrance concept store was created in Terminal 1, introducing numerous local fragrance brand debuts tailored to younger consumers' shopping habits, and providing skin testing services to recommend products more precisely suited to travelers, bringing more professionalism and interactivity to airport retail.

Both airports simultaneously launched the "Golden Autumn Grand Sale" and "Love Journey" commercial promotion lucky draws, while the "iShanghai Departure" Shanghai Airport membership platform distributed consumption vouchers, redemption benefits, and special lucky draws, giving travelers more surprises and savings when dining and shopping at the airports.
