MARA Holdings' stock plummeted 5.23% during Tuesday's intraday session, following the release of its disappointing first-quarter 2026 financial results.

The digital infrastructure company reported revenue of $174.6 million, which fell short of analyst estimates, and a net loss of $1.3 billion. The significant loss was primarily driven by a $1.0 billion charge related to the fair value of its digital asset holdings, as Bitcoin prices declined 22% during the quarter. The results underscore the ongoing pressure on Bitcoin mining margins and test the company's strategic pivot towards AI data centers.

While MARA maintains that Bitcoin mining is its operational foundation, the weak quarterly performance has shifted investor focus to the execution risks and timeline of its AI infrastructure buildout, which is intended to provide more stable revenue streams in the future.
