China Reinsurance (Group) Corporation (“China Re”) has released its unaudited key solvency and operating metrics for the three months ended 31 March 2026.
Solvency Strength • Parent-level core and aggregated solvency adequacy ratios both stood at 218%, comfortably above the 100% regulatory minimum. • Subsidiaries also remained solid: China Re P&C recorded an aggregated ratio of 212%, China Re Life 185%, and China Continent Insurance 277%.
Group-Level Earnings • Consolidated insurance income reached 51.21 billion RMB, down 4.47% from 53.60 billion RMB in Q1 2025. • Consolidated net profit came in at 3.32 billion RMB, a 5.35% year-on-year decline.
Subsidiary Breakdown (January–March 2026) • China Re P&C: insurance income 12.70 billion RMB, net profit 0.85 billion RMB; return on net assets (ROE) 3.16%. • China Re Life: insurance income 15.61 billion RMB, net profit 0.56 billion RMB; ROE 2.29%. • China Continent Insurance: insurance income 16.38 billion RMB, net profit 0.45 billion RMB; combined ratio 99.45%.
Balance-Sheet Snapshot (31 March 2026, parent level) • Total assets: 100.30 billion RMB • Net assets: 63.60 billion RMB • Insurance contract liabilities: 19.37 billion RMB
Investment Performance • Parent-level annualised investment yield registered 0.50%; the combined investment yield (including realised and unrealised gains) was 0.41%. • Three-year average combined investment yield remained at 3.60%.
Operational Efficiency • Parent-level reinsurance combined ratio was 93.00%, with a combined expense ratio of 61.95% and a combined loss ratio of 31.05%. • China Re P&C posted a 97.47% combined ratio, whereas China Re Life recorded 96.97%.
