Hong Kong Gold Exchange Partners with Alibaba Affiliate to Build Global Precious Metals Trading Infrastructure

The Hong Kong Gold Exchange has announced a collaboration with AGTECH HOLDINGS (08279), a member company of Alibaba (09988), to jointly develop an international precious metals trading platform and settlement system. The partnership will also involve the creation of a digital commodities blockchain. The integrated systems will cover a range of services including spot and futures trading, digital gold products, B2C transactions, and over-the-counter (OTC) clearing, all under unified risk management and regulatory oversight.

Hong Kong Gold Exchange Chairman Zhang Dexi stated that over the past year, the exchange has enhanced its corporate governance and increased institutional transparency. It has also actively engaged with international financial institutions, gold merchants, and minting companies. In recent months, the exchange has met with more than 30 international gold firms to discuss potential cooperation and membership opportunities.
