US Diesel Pump Prices Hit Unprecedented High

Deep News

The American Automobile Association reported on the 11th that the national average retail price for diesel surpassed the $6 per gallon threshold that day, reaching $6.0556 per gallon, a record high.

Data shows that the national average diesel price stood at $5.9773 per gallon the previous day and $3.7053 per gallon one year ago. In California, where fuel prices have historically been the highest in the nation, the average diesel price climbed to $7.9827 per gallon on the 11th.

It is understood that the Russia-Ukraine conflict and the war in Iran have reduced global fuel market diesel supply by approximately 8%. Andy Lipow, president of Lipow Oil Associates, stated that refineries are unable to produce additional diesel.

Rising diesel prices not only drive up costs in logistics, transportation, and construction sectors but will also significantly impact agricultural production, exacerbating inflationary pressures. Paul Mitchell, a professor of agriculture and applied economics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, noted that the current surge in diesel prices affects not only crop harvesting but also the transportation of grain and silage.
