China Shenhua (01088) has announced that Unit 4 of the Qingyuan Phase II expansion project, developed by its 67%-owned subsidiary Guoneng Qingyuan Power Generation Co., Ltd., has successfully passed a 168-hour trial run and officially commenced commercial operation. This milestone marks the full completion and operation of both 1,000-megawatt ultra-supercritical double-reheat coal-fired generating units at the Qingyuan Phase II facility. Throughout the trial period, the unit operated stably with excellent environmental performance, achieving ultra-low emissions of atmospheric pollutants and zero wastewater discharge. Once fully operational, the Qingyuan Phase II project is expected to supply approximately 20 billion kilowatt-hours of clean and efficient electricity annually. This will significantly alleviate power supply pressures in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and support high-quality regional economic development.
