According to travel platforms on October 2, airfare prices dropped significantly during the National Day holiday period, while same-day hotel bookings in popular cities surged 30% year-on-year.
Data shows that airfare prices began to drop notably on October 2, falling 20% compared to October 1. Prices continued to decline on October 3 and 4, reaching their lowest point during the holiday period. Starting October 5, return travel pushed prices upward, peaking on October 7, before declining again on October 8 and 9.
Taking the Beijing-Kunming route as an example, a flight departing at 6:40 AM on October 1 had a base fare of 1,927 yuan, while the same route on October 2 cost 884 yuan, a 50% drop from the previous day.
Looking at specific routes: on October 3, flights departing from Beijing to Harbin had a minimum base fare of 300 yuan; from Guangzhou to Qingdao, a minimum of 500 yuan; from Shanghai to Xi'an, a minimum of 350 yuan; and from Wuhan to Tianjin, a minimum of 385 yuan.
An analysis of hotel booking data from the platform showed that same-day hotel bookings in popular cities during the holiday period increased 30% year-on-year. The cities with the highest same-day booking volumes were Beijing, Chengdu, Shanghai, Chongqing, Hangzhou, Guangzhou, Nanjing, Qingdao, and Xi'an.
