Super Micro Computer shares soared 16.2% in overnight trading. Preliminary Q1 revenue and margins beat guidance. Other chip and AI stocks also jumped. Direxion Daily Semiconductors Bull 3x Shares rose 8.5%; Dell rose 6%; Hewlett Packard Enterprise rose 5%; SK hynix, Intel, Arm, and SanDisk rose 4%; AMD, Micron, and Western Digital rose 3%; Nvidia rose 2%.

Elon Musk said on Tuesday that a merger of his two companies ​SpaceX and Tesla would be "a good idea" and that they had formed special committees to discuss a union, sending shares of the space and technology company up 7.7% in overnight trading. While Tesla shares rose 2.1%.

Optical communication stocks rose in overnight trading. Credo Technology rose 8%; Applied Optoelectronics and Lumentum rose 6%; AXT Inc and Semtech rose 5%; Coherent rose 4%; POET Technologies, Marvell Technology, Ciena, Corning, and Nokia rose 3%.

Netflix issued weaker-than-expected guidance for fourth-quarter profit and cut its full-year advertising forecast, days after the streaming pioneer laid off 6% of its workforce and replaced two of its top programming executives. Shares of ‌Netflix fell 5.9% in overnight trading.

Intuitive Surgical tightened its 2026 forecast for growth in procedures performed using ​its da Vinci robotic surgery systems. The shares sank 6.8% in overnight trading.
