On September 16, the Wuzhou Comprehensive Bonded Zone completed the nation's first export operation using the "Cross-Border One-Lock" model for ASEAN products. A shipment of roasted coffee beans shipped from Vietnam was consolidated at the zone, where customs officers applied an electronic lock under the "Cross-Border One-Lock" protocol. The cargo traveled by land directly to Hong Kong ports without transferring vehicles or changing locks, passed automatic rapid inspection, and arrived that evening before being flown onward to its final destination.
The implementation of this operation marks a significant step forward in smoothing the "ASEAN–Wuzhou–Hong Kong" cross-border logistics corridor, elevating Wuzhou's capacity for cross-border logistics organization and opening-up as a pivotal hub linking the two bay areas.
Under traditional logistics models, ASEAN cargo transiting Guangxi to Hong Kong required multiple transfers and stops for inspection, driving up costs and raising the risk of product damage, which hampered market connectivity. To break through these bottlenecks, the Wuzhou Comprehensive Bonded Zone has leveraged its policy advantages by innovatively applying the "Cross-Border One-Lock + Bonded Logistics" clearance model. This approach unlocks the entire "ASEAN–Wuzhou Comprehensive Bonded Zone–Hong Kong" logistics chain, creating a fully seamless loop and dramatically improving efficiency.
Prior to this, the zone had already used the "Cross-Border One-Lock" service to facilitate rapid export of over a dozen batches of products including fir timber boards, semiconductor modules, and technology gemstones via Hong Kong. The successful debut of the country's first ASEAN export shipment under this model represents a crucial leap in the zone's role as a conduit linking east and west: it funnels cargo from ASEAN and the Beibu Gulf Economic Zone in the west, while connecting directly to Guangdong, Hong Kong, and global shipping and trade networks in the east.
A official from the administrative committee of the Wuzhou Comprehensive Bonded Zone noted that ASEAN exports have long relied on coastal ports for distribution. The "Cross-Border One-Lock" model transforms Wuzhou from a mere "transit stop" into a "departure point" capable of consolidating goods, completing regulatory oversight, and reaching Hong Kong directly. This effectively leverages the zone's role as an opening-up platform, empowering Wuzhou to build itself into the leading city for bay area integration.
Looking ahead, the zone will continue to explore diversified applications of the "Cross-Border One-Lock" model, promoting more product categories and business formats to enjoy the logistical convenience of "one lock to the end, full direct connection." This will further unblock the two-way trade corridor between ASEAN, the zone, and Hong Kong, playing a greater role in powering an open economy.
