Hong Kong's Interdepartmental Hydrogen Energy Task Force Approves Two Additional Hydrogen Fuel Trial Projects in Principle

On April 27, a spokesperson for the Hong Kong Environment and Ecology Bureau announced that the Interdepartmental Task Force on Hydrogen Energy has agreed in principle to two more applications for hydrogen fuel trial projects. The applications were submitted by Hongwell Passenger Transport Limited and New Birth Passenger Transport Limited. Each company will trial two hydrogen fuel cell coaches for local passenger transport services. The spokesperson stated, "Upon receiving the detailed information for these trial projects, the task force promptly commenced its review and granted in-principle approval for both applications on April 22." To date, the task force has reviewed and approved in principle a total of 37 applications to initiate hydrogen energy trial projects. The task force will continue to reference the operational data and experience gathered from these trials to provide recommendations for the ongoing optimization of safety and technical guidelines for hydrogen energy applications in Hong Kong.
