Sinopec Corp. Details Ongoing Buybacks: 162.54 Million Shares Repurchased Since Mid-June, Pending Cancellation

China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation (Sinopec Corp.) submitted its Next Day Disclosure Return on 24 July 2026, confirming no change in its outstanding share count as of that date but disclosing a series of repurchases awaiting cancellation across both H shares (Hong Kong) and A shares (Shanghai).

From 18 June to 24 July 2026, the company bought back 80.09 million H shares and 82.45 million A shares, totalling 162.54 million shares. These volumes represent approximately 0.34% of issued H shares (23.78 billion) and 0.08% of issued A shares (97.14 billion), or about 0.13% of Sinopec’s overall share capital of 120.93 billion shares.

H-share repurchases were executed in Hong Kong at prices ranging between HKD 4.01 and HKD 4.29, with an estimated volume-weighted average price of HKD 4.12. The aggregate consideration for the H-share buybacks is calculated at roughly HKD 329.70 million.

A-share repurchases on the Shanghai Stock Exchange were carried out at RMB 4.46–5.22 per share, implying an average cost of about RMB 4.72. Total cash outlay for A-share purchases reached approximately RMB 388.84 million. The latest transaction, conducted on 24 July 2026, involved 1.00 million A shares at prices between RMB 5.16 and RMB 5.22, costing RMB 5.18 million.

All repurchased shares are intended for cancellation. Post-cancellation, Sinopec’s issued share capital would fall by 162.54 million shares to roughly 120.76 billion shares, subject to completion of the cancellation process.

Under the existing mandate approved on 13 May 2026, the company is authorised to repurchase up to 10% of each class of its issued shares, leaving substantial headroom after the current 0.13% repurchase utilisation.
