The Xianning Forestry Bureau has announced positive news: the city has secured 24 forestry projects this year, with 540 million yuan in funds received, representing 10% of the provincial total and a 60% increase year-on-year.
Since the start of the year, the city's forestry departments have closely tracked national and provincial funding priorities, focusing on five key areas: ecological restoration, carbon sink development, industrial upgrading, fire prevention infrastructure, and pest control. They have built a full-chain project management system of "planning a batch, reserving a batch, and constructing a batch."
A significant achievement is the approval of the city's first major central government finance project for forest and grassland pest and disease control. This project has a total investment of 108 million yuan, including 75.63 million yuan from central funds, 10.822 million yuan from provincial subsidies, and 21.648 million yuan from local matching funds. The key tasks include pest monitoring, clearing dead pine trees, chemical control, and comprehensive area inspections for integrated pest management. The operational design has been approved by the provincial forestry bureau, and the first tranche of funds has been allocated.
Another success is the approval of the ecological protection and restoration project for southern lakes and wetlands in the Jianghan Plain, located in Tongcheng County. The total investment for this project is 133 million yuan, with 91.14 million yuan from central funds. Last year, 19.51 million yuan from central funds was allocated, and this year an additional 71.63 million yuan has been released. The project focuses on two core tasks: comprehensive management of forest ecosystems and the protection and restoration of lake wetlands. Its goals are to curb ecological degradation, restore the structure and function of lake wetland ecosystems, enhance biodiversity, and create habitats for rare animals and plants to thrive and reproduce.
The city has also successfully secured the construction project for the Osmanthus National Key Laboratory of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration. This is the first batch of its kind nationwide and the only city-level national-level forestry science and technology innovation platform. The total investment for this project is 24.8955 million yuan, including 22.406 million yuan from central budgetary investment. The main activity involves purchasing 123 sets of experimental equipment. This initiative aims to break through industrial development bottlenecks, integrate superior scientific research resources, systematically conduct research and results transformation, and promote the transformation and upgrading of the city's osmanthus industry, enhancing its international competitiveness.
It is reported that the city's forestry departments are actively planning and applying for the next batch of key projects. They are accelerating the implementation of key projects currently under construction to empower the construction of a significant growth pole for green development within the Wuhan metropolitan area.
