On May 12, it was learned from the Zhejiang Branch of China Classification Society (CCS) that the first vessel of a 64,000 deadweight ton bulk carrier series, constructed by Zhoushan COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. for COSCO Shipping Bulk Carrier Co., Ltd., has been successfully launched.
The vessel has an overall length of 199.9 meters, a breadth of 32.26 meters, and a design draft of 11.3 meters. Its energy efficiency index meets the requirements of the EEDI Phase III standards. It integrates an intelligent ship system and cybersecurity protection functions, and includes a reserved interface for methanol fuel adaptation. Various economic and environmental indicators are at an advanced level among similar vessels.
Since the keel was laid on March 16, the CCS inspection team has strictly followed relevant regulations to implement full-process quality control over hull structure, welding techniques, and installation of key equipment. Simultaneously, close coordination and collaboration with the shipowner and shipyard ensured the simultaneous improvement of both construction progress and quality.
This vessel also represents a typical practical case of CCS implementing the concept of green and low-carbon development and promoting the application of intelligent ship technology.
