Iranian Currency Plunges Tenfold Overnight as Dollar Index Sees Volatile Rebound

On March 1, the Iranian rial (IRR) experienced a sharp devaluation, plummeting by several tens of times. The exchange rate reached 1,314,113 Iranian rials per US dollar, with 1 Iranian rial equivalent to approximately 0.00000076 US dollars.

As of March 2, 2026, the US dollar index was reported at 97.82, showing a slight intraday increase of 0.07%. The index continued its volatile rebound trend observed since late February but failed to break through the resistance level at 98.
