Huadian Power H1 2026 Output Falls 10.65%; Average Tariff Edges Up, 550 MW Chongqing Gas Unit Online

Huadian Power International Corporation Limited reported that group-wide power generation reached 107.78 million MWh in the first half of 2026, down 10.65% year-on-year. On-grid electricity sales declined 10.82% to 101.04 million MWh.

Management attributed the contraction to strong hydrological conditions in water-abundant regions, rising installed capacity of new energy and newly added coal-fired units, coupled with lower summer temperatures that suppressed peak demand and reduced utilisation hours for thermal plants.

Despite weaker volumes, the average on-grid tariff in the period inched up 0.18% to RMB 517.70 per MWh, a rise of RMB 0.91 per MWh versus the prior-year period.

Operationally, a 550.12 MW gas-fired unit at Huadian (Chongqing) Gas Turbine Power Generation Company Limited—wholly owned by Huadian Power—entered commercial service, expanding the group’s gas-fired capacity base.

All figures are provisional and will be finalised in the company’s 2026 interim report. Investors are advised to consider potential revisions.
