CHINFMINING (01258) announced that in late June this year, a subsidiary of the company, China-Africa Mining Limited, reported damage to the inner wall of the auxiliary shaft at the Chambishi Southeast Ore Body, resulting in a casualty. On July 23, the company disclosed the incident in a public filing.

Following the incident, CHINFMINING took immediate action, suspending operations at the Chambishi Southeast Ore Body and organizing expert inspections and evaluations. Investigations revealed that both the main and auxiliary shafts of the ore body, which pass through multiple water-bearing layers, had suffered varying degrees of damage, including localized cracking, due to long-term erosion of the concrete walls despite previous curtain grouting reinforcement efforts.

To eliminate safety risks and ensure long-term operational safety, the company initiated comprehensive repair work on the damaged shaft walls, focusing on restoring the affected sections. Based on the severity of the damage, a reinforcement plan was implemented, including the installation of dense No. 20 channel steel rings filled with C30 concrete to form a new composite steel-concrete shaft wall structure.

Due to the complexity of the repairs, work officially began in September. As of now, the auxiliary shaft repairs have been completed, while the main shaft repairs are ongoing. The entire repair process is expected to conclude by mid-December. During this period, production at the Chambishi Southeast Ore Body remains temporarily suspended.

As a result of the suspension, CHINFMINING has revised its 2025 production plan, reducing its self-owned mine copper output target from 160,000 tons to 140,000 tons.
