The Ascott Limited has introduced the “Disability Inclusion Playbook for the Accommodation Sector,” one of the first publicly available guides offering hospitality operators a comprehensive framework to embed disability inclusion across their businesses, the company announced on Nov, 14 2025.
Supported by SG Enable, the World Sustainable Hospitality Alliance and the Valuable 500, the playbook was co-developed with disability inclusion consultancy Colorful Earth and reviewed by nearly 20 experts worldwide. It outlines practical measures in five areas—Inclusive Training, Spaces, Hiring, Digital Interfaces and Programmes—to help hotels and serviced residences deliver barrier-free guest experiences and foster inclusive employment.
Ascott paired the launch with concrete global targets. From 2026 it will publish data on the hiring of persons with disabilities and ensure every property provides a standardised accessibility profile covering room specifications and transport options. By 2027, all frontline staff across its global network of more than 1,000 operating and pipeline properties in over 40 countries will complete disability awareness training. By 2028, all guest-facing digital platforms, including the DiscoverASR.com booking site and the forthcoming upgrade of the Ascott Star Rewards mobile app, are to meet WCAG 2.1 AA standards.
The company will designate at least one property in each of its operating countries to run a community programme focused on disability inclusion from 2026. In Singapore, Ascott and SalvageGarden have also developed a prototype assistive amenities toolkit—containing 3D-printed holders for cutlery, grooming items and a tactile hotel map—that will be piloted at several properties.
The playbook is available for download on DiscoverASR.com and will be promoted via partner channels, including the Singapore Tourism Board’s website and newsletters.
